Real Classrooms. Real Impact.

Teaching Practice at Muhanga TTC provides student teachers with structured, supervised classroom experience in real school environments across Rwanda. Our placement programme ensures every graduate is fully prepared for the demands of modern education.

Year 2
6-week placement

Structured first experience in a primary or secondary school with weekly supervisor feedback and lesson plan reviews.

Year 3
12-week placement

Extended placement with full teaching load, independent lesson delivery, and formal competency assessment.

Placement Process โ€บ
Student teachers are matched to partner schools based on their subject specialisation and district of origin. The placement office coordinates with head teachers and district education officers to confirm placements four weeks before the start date.
Assessment Criteria โ€บ
Student teachers are assessed weekly across five competency domains: lesson planning, classroom management, subject delivery, learner assessment techniques, and professional conduct. A cumulative score of 70% or above is required to pass.
Supervisor Roles โ€บ
Each student teacher is assigned a school-based mentor teacher and visited at least twice by a TTC supervisor during the placement. Written feedback is provided after each observation using the standard TTC rubric.
Student Reflections โ€บ
Student teachers maintain a reflective journal throughout the placement, documenting teaching challenges, breakthroughs, community observations, and professional growth. Journals are reviewed as part of the final assessment.
